A new way to sell T-shirts

IamTee sprung from a traditional T-Shirt printer.  We’d make designs and print them and hope that they sold well.  If they didn’t, we’d keep the extras in a warehouse.  Some of them are still there, like some creepy Tee Museum.  A new site called TeeSpring allows people (or companies) to upload a design they feel will sell.  They decide how many must be ordered before the design is printed.  For instance, you may decide that 50 shirts need to be sold before you will print.  If 50 aren’t sold, none get printed.

Using this method, excess inventory is a thing of the past.  Plus consumers are always motivated by scarcity.  We will probably try this ourselves in the future, but for now, how about you be the guinea pig.  If you have a design that you think people will love, give it a try.  Apparently you have nothing to lose.

I homeschool because…..

This is sure to cause a debate and there are passionate people on both sides, but here’s a great article on why a family chose to homeschool on  For us we had similar reasons but one of our favorite shirts sums up another reason.  If you are part of the village, please don’t get upset.  I’m sure we weren’t referring to you.  : )

The end of Pink Slime???

This is somewhat old news since the first plans for McDonalds to drop Pink Slime happened last year, but it appears that is is becoming final.  Jamie Oliver had a big hand in this so props to him.  See Raw for Beauty’s post here.  Now if we could just get them to quit using all animal products, but then we’d be left with their salads, which aren’t really salads at all.

Never Underestimate the Power of Stupid People in Large Groups

The past month has been filled with politicians continuing to do stupid things.  Anthony Weiner (the jokes write themselves), Bob Filner (How bad is it when Hooters won’t let you in?), Putin (getting lots of kickback for his policies):

and the list goes on and on.  With that in mind, we guarantee that this t-shirt will never go out of style.  That’s probably not a good thing, but without Politicians who would John Stewart make fun of.

Girl Power OR What just Flew past me

I have a fond memory of the 2005 New York Marathon.  I’m 385 yards from the finish (the .2 in 26.2) and for some reason I decide that it’s time to sprint.  The young lady next to me sees me take off and joins me in the mad dash to the finish line.  Despite my best efforts and the power I felt from the cheers of the crowd, I just couldn’t take her.  She beat me by a good 10 feet.  Afterwords, she thanked me for pushing her during the final stretch as she had PR’d by about 15 seconds.  “Glad to help” I struggled to say as I doubled over while getting my timing chip removed.

Since that day I’ve had a much more relaxed attitude about ‘beating a girl’.  Turns out, I’m not as fast as I think I am.

Time to Hit some Hills

It’s a beautiful morning.  Should I relax and take the day off or should I hop on my bike and hit the hills.  I just started riding about 18 months ago.  I consider myself to be a runner who rides to balance my training.  But more and more, I find myself enjoying the bike as much as I do running.  You can cover a lot of ground in a short timeframe.  There’s always a breeze when you ride.  And finally, I’m becoming addicted to Single Track and the fear/excitement that comes with knowing every turn could plant me on my behind.  Now that’s living.

The evolution of Mario

I remember being fourteen and playing the original Mario Brothers arcade game for hours. Twenty years later I bought one of the machines for my basement. Now I watch as my three sons play new Mario games and am amazed at his longevity.  Of course he’s changed quite a bit over the years.  He grew a bit, his features became sharper and overall his look came into greater focus (due no doubt to the jump from 8 bit to 64 bit and beyond.  Here’s a quick snapshot:

As you can see, this might have been a great shirt design.  However, we feel that Mario goes beyond just himself.  We proudly present our Mario Evolution shirt.  From sticks to joysticks to no sticks (motion detection that is).

Vegan with a side of humor

Vegetarianism too easy for you.  Try being a Vegan.  Not that it’s difficult to follow a Vegan Diet (we actually eat very well and in most cases have a more diversified diet than non-Vegans.  No, the difficult part is answering the never ending list of questions:

1) Don’t you miss cheese/ice cream/butter, etc.?

2) If everyone went vegan, wouldn’t animals take over the world?

3) Do Plants feel pain?

4) Where do you get your protein?

5) Do you eat fish?

6) Wouldn’t cows explode if we didn’t milk them?

7) Don’t you care about people as much animals?

8) Where do you get calcium?

9) What do you eat, salads and tofu?

10) Are you Vegan all the time?

My personal favorite is #4.  I get asked at least twice a week where I get my protein.  I won’t bother answering all of these questions for you now, but perhaps in a future blog post.  In the mean time, here are some great new Vegan Tee designs available in the store.
